I may be the last in my family to start a blog, but I'm excited to take a few moments every couple days to include my viewpoints on a few things. I'm not as ambitious as my siblings, because I don't intend to take the 365 Day Challenge like so many others. You never know though. I made a list a few weeks ago of ideas and thoughts for posts and it's a list long enough to get me through a year, at least. I guess we'll find out soon enough.
So, for my first posting I've decided to start with the original 'My First...' in the series that will be sure to become a staple for me.
My First... Cassette Tape!
Bobby McFerrin 'Simple Pleasures' Released in January 1988, given to me on my 7th Birthday... I think?
Wow! This takes me back. This was a time when you had to Fast Forward through a Cassette to find the song you wanted. How did we ever survive? |
Obviously, the reason I got this cassette tape was for his epic hit, 'Don't Worry, Be Happy'! I ended up falling in love with a ton of songs on this cassette. Some of the few that I remember and find myself singing along with the tape while listening on my hand-me-down 'walk-man' include; 'Susie Q', 'Drive My Car', 'Good Lovin'', 'Simple Pleasures', and 'Sunshine of Your Love'.
One thing I can remember involving this cassette was using my dad's old tape recorder.
This is a pretty close replica of the old tape recorder I used to listen to this and other cassettes I was given or 'borrowed' |
I'll try to post more interesting things in the future, but for now, this is it! Thanks for reading and being patient!
Plenty interesting for not only a "first blog" but for any blog (not that I'm a pro after 10 days mind you).
ReplyDeleteI remember that tape player and the Simple Pleasures tape. I have been planning on ordering a bunch of Bobby McFerrin's CDs in the next months so now I have an even better excuse!
Love you brother! Glad I could be your first "follower." Sure won't be the last.
LOVE it!! Ah, this took me back... I remember how much you loved Bobby McFerrin... there was a song of his that I loved that was a song for AIDS or something... can't remember right now but I remember recording it to a mix tape off of your tape with my AWESOME dual tape deck! Love you little brother, can't wait to see the rest of your posts!
ReplyDeleteSorry it took me a while to finally read and comment on your blog. I hope you will continue to do this (even if you have to do this totally on the down low, Q.T., hush hush) Loved this post - cassette tapes, tape players, Bobby McFerrin...where have they all gone?
